How to Play the Native American Flute
Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00
In this experiential class you will learn basic techniques to play a Native American cedar flute. This instrument is one of the easiest to learn and a wonderfully meditative tool. The flute is easy to play and has a powerful voice. The cedar wood gives it a wonderful organic sound. Great for playing indoors or outdoors. Children from 8 and up can learn to play on these flutes. This class is designed for adults, though children can sign up if an adult also takes the class. The Native Americans used the cedar flute to imitate nature sounds. You will learn to do this, as well as other playing techniques.
You do not need any previous musical training to attend this class.

What Participants Say
After a brief demonstration of the flute: "I can't begin to tell you how much enjoyment it has brought me and my patients. Because the instrument is so easy to play, I was able to play for them right away. One patient kept asking me to keep going and not stop playing. I thank you for taking the time, introducing me to the flute and for showing me the fundamentals."
"It brings me joy that you put music in people's hands. I wish I had known to use the flutes when I taught music in public schools and churches. I love what you have brought into my life."
"I can't believe I can play an instrument!"
