A Visit with a Naturopathic Doctor
Sun. Nov. 16th 10:30 a.m - Noon

This program will be focusing on what a visit to a naturopathic physician would be like. There will be a mock intake handout for anyone interested in seeing what that might look like and how it differs from the forms you are asked to complete the first time you visit with a MD. A brief history of naturopathic medicine, past and present, will be given. Some of the subjects covered in a typical new patient interview will include drug/herb interactions, quality of over the counter supplements, how to talk with and to your MD, who to call and when and why, review of all medicines taken - whether from the pharmacy, over the counter, or from a family member or well meaning friend. Dr. Arouh will allow time for discussion at the end of her presentation and intends for this to be interactive and useful to anyone attending.

Naturopathic medicine as a stand-alone discipline is about one-hundred years old. Its’ roots reach back to the nature cure movement of old Europe, to the eclectic practitioners of the mid-to-late eighteen hundreds, to the vitalists, the Thomsonians, and to the earliest homeopaths. In all of these disciplines the healing power of nature formed the basis for the treatment of illnesses, accidents, and injuries and the recovery of health and well-being.

Ann Arouh, ND

is an Oregon licensed Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, which means she is licensed in Oregon as general practice, primary care physician. (Arkansas does not currently license Naturopathic Physicians). She is also a certified Medical Laboratory Technician and Phlebotomist. She was licensed in Arkansas as a Massage Therapy Instructor until she let that go to become a doctor.

Dr. Arouh earned her undergraduate degree in biology at University of Arkansas at Little Rock and her doctoral degree in naturopathic medicine at National College of Natural Medicine (formerly National College of Naturopathic Medicine) in Portland, Oregon. There are only four regionally accredited colleges or universities of naturopathic medicine in the United States. National College of Natural Medicine, Bastyr University, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, and University of Bridgeport School of Naturopathic Medicine. Graduates of National College of Natural Medicine founded the other three institutions. Today, naturopathic medicine combines the wisdom of our predecessors with current and ongoing scientific study and research.

Ann's interest in natural medicine began in the mid-1970s with an interest in growing fresh vegetables and herbs for her growing family. She soon decided that organic growing methods would best suit their needs. Years later, while attending massage school, she was introduced to naturopathic medicine.
